Employee Turnover

Hey... how do you keep good people on board?

What does losing one person mean?
... means more than just losing a workforce, a staff who does things.
We lost his talent, his tacit knowledge, his network ... all the investment we ever made, a lot...

Not to mention the effect on the other colleagues.
Especially, when a lot of people is leaving -- reaching a certain critical mass -- the attitude of staying colleagues will be severly affected....
as I myself see in one organisation.

Try this attrition calculator: link.

Is it always money and compensation that make people stay?
No.

Classic argument: "no budget for retention"
I believe that there are 100's of creative (low-cost) way of doing employee retention.

But, it is not the short-term, temporary measures (be that low-cost or budget-eating means) that satisfies people. It is the comprehensive human resources strategy and system that must be reviewed:

- Strategize&Plan
- Recruit
- Training & Development
- Performance Appraisal
- Compensation & Benefit
- Separation
