Pernah dengar technology adoption cycle? (or innovation diffusion)
Geoffrey A. Moore pernah mempopulerkannya juga dengan istilah "Crossing the Chasm"

Basically, this is membicarakan bagaimana suatu produk baru diadopsi oleh public. Pertama-tama technology enthusiasts (innovators) dulu, lalu visionaries (early adopters), pragmatists (early majority), conservatives (late majority), dan skeptics (laggards).

Let me give you two examples.

1)
Driver di kantor adalah pengguna Ring Back Tone, sejak layanan tsb diluncurkan.
Kolegaku, baru saja pakai, krn terinspirasi Pak Driver tsb.
Boss gue, tidak berniat pakai... :-)

2)
Satpam di kantor, HP-nya Nokia 6680 (more than 3.5jt).
Yang punya warung di belakang kantor pakai Nokia 6600.
Aku? Siemens M75. Itupun dikasih kantor... kalau nggak juga nggak beli...

(OK, there will be other cases where the innovation difusion follows "common sense." But those two are quite intriguing examples.)
