Teaching a child to be responsible for his actions is a must.
Just recently my daughter hit her auntie's nose with a handphone (she loves
to play with handphones). Hit it quite hard, anyway. But you can not really
blame her, for she knew nothing (yet) about responsibility.
What did I do to her?
I told her, hopefully she understood, that it's not right to hurt people,
by doing so she caused a great pain to someone else and it is not nice. I
also asked her to apologize to her auntie.
The next day, something interesting happened. She seemed to try to make
peace with her particular auntie. Hugging, kissing, bermanja-manja dg
auntienya yang satu itu...
Lucu juga anak-anak, ya...
Reminds me to the responsibility of being a parent.
My pastor used to say, "Anak-anak tidak minta dilahirkan. Orang tuanyalah
yang ingin punya anak. Dan Tuhan tahu benar hal itu... Dia menganugerahkan
anak, bukan sebagai milik orang tuanya, tetapi sebagai milik Allah yang
harus dipelihara."
Lo, children are an heritage of the LORD: and the fruit of the womb is his
reward.
(Ps 127:3, KJV)
